Roath Park Rose Gardens and Conservatory 18.00, 19.00, 20.00 on Wednesday 29 October 2014 Book via Cardiff Council Parks: 029 2044 5900
Since 2011, Prof Richard Hand has developed a fruitful partnership with Cardiff County Council, including departments such as the parks division and the cemetery division. In close liaison with the council park ranger staff from Roath Park, he has presented Halloween walkthrough events with a different theme each year. These are horror-themed walkthrough event incorporating storytelling and site-specific performance presented to public audiences.
This year, our theme is ‘ghosts’ and we will feature some 40 students in the roles of performers, technicians, writers and stage managers.
This year’s Halloween project received a CELT teaching award and aims to consolidate the activity, pedagogic rigour and public/institutional awareness of, and involvement in, the exciting and distinctive link between USW and Cardiff Council. The project offers a potential paradigm for community outreach and innovative ‘real world’ teaching and learning. At the same time, as well as being a vibrant example of public engagement and impact the event ties in closely with Prof Richard Hand’s research interests in Grand Guignol Horror Performance.
